heidi ruff Heidi Ruff lives to visualize; she's been an artist for as long as she can remember, her first design award received at the age of twelve. For Heidi, every day is a new opportunity to absorb experience.

Born in southeastern Idaho, Heidi moved to the Tri-cities when she was very young. She spent her college years in Ellensburg, Washington at Central Washington University. Earning degrees in Graphic Design and English: Writing, Heidi returned to the Tri-cities to begin her professional career. She has interned for Sara Nelson Design in downtown Kennewick and completed a brief stint at a local sign-making company.

Heidi is open to taking jobs in any design-related industry to gain valuable experience. She hopes to work in a print-based position or in web design. Heidi has experience with CSS, HTML, and Flash with Actionscript 3; She is taking courses to augment this knowledge. Some of the most personally rewarding jobs include materials in the music industry, publishing industry, and textiles, specifically CD covers, band promotions, book covers, editorial design, and screenprinting.

Eventually, Heidi's goal is to own her own business or to expand her freelance work. Currently she continues to hone her skills as a designer and illustrator while learning about the various applications for her skills in the business world.

In her off-time, Heidi enjoys many hobbies. Art is her greatest passion, followed closely by (or often combined with) music, writing, reading, technology, and sewing.

Heidi's favorite media are many and varied. She loves to try everything, preferring mixed media primarily pertaining to 2D works. She has a special place for drawing media, printmaking, paper-crafting, and bookbinding.

Heidi dabbles in playing the guitar and keyboard. Planning trips to concerts is her favorite use of vacation; she has met many of her favorite artists this way. Heidi's taste in music is both focused and eclectic.

Heidi's favorite sport is bowling, and she spent twelve years on junior leagues where she averaged 180. She co-captained her high school bowling team, and hopes to rejoin a league soon.

In high school, Heidi spent time as a techie—essentially a member of IT support staff for school faculty. She has built machines and maintained the systems of family, friends, and referred clients. Heidi has also had exposure to programming languages where she built simple programs in Java and VB.net.

Heidi welcomes the opportunity to meet new people and to discuss her qualifications as a designer. Contact her at
